This is the layout I created for the challenge at Black with 2.

The challenge is to use black as the dominant background with baby blue and hearts.

The photo is in black and white and is of Ray DJ'ing at Sharyn's 60th birthday party.

The blue hearts on either side of the photo are stamped and then heat embossed with baby blue embossing powder..(just lucky I had that colour). The Admit One and Date journal spot were stamped and heat embossed also. The other hearts were cut out with a punch and then run through my Big Shot.

The blue paper below the photo has been puched with a Martha Steward edge punch and the black paper has been pleated and stitched to the layout with my sewing machine.

Thanks for looking, leave me a comment if you have time.

Cheers for now

Thought I would share the layout I created for the Kaisercraft Saturday Sketch Challenge.
This is the sketch I have used, it is June #4 sketch

I have rotated the sketch 90 degrees clockwise and I have used Kaisercraft Christmas Spirit, La Di Dah and Love Notes collection papers. The background was stamped with clear ink and then heat embossed with Ultra Thick embossing powder. The paper doily was lightly sprayed with Cherub Pink Glimmermist and the music sheet paper was sprayed with Iridescent Gold Glimmermist

I have pleated the ribbon and secured it with staples and then stuck the ric rac over the top for added dimention

I made the flower out of book pages and then sprayed with Black Magic Glimmermist

Cheers for now

I have spent from 10:30am to 2:30pm at Camelot today. They had their Demonstration Day to launch the re-opening of their work-room facilities. The work-room is available anytime Wednesday to Sunday 11 am to 4 pm for $10 per day. You can use all of the machines and facilities they have available and for an extra $5 you can use their stamps and Copic markers.

On Saturdays I have a 2 hour crop during which you can work on your own project with help from me or you can select one of my layouts to make. The cost of this is $15 plus materials used. You can bring your own materials or buy them from the shop as you go. You will need to bring your basic scrapbooking tools and supplies for this class. If you don't have any they can be purchased from Camelot a few items at a time.

If you are in Adelaide and thinking about giving scrapbooking or card-making a go send me an email or give me a ring and I will give you more detail.

These two layouts are from my Tasmanian Holiday Album and were created in a class with Connie Francis at Camelot about 3 years ago

And this one I created about the Tasmanian Devils we saw while we were over there. I forgot my camera on this particular day so I bought postcards to use on my layout. They worked very well. The top photo is hinged to allow for another photo to be included in the layout.

Hope you have all enjoyed your weekend
Till next time

I have been busy preparing for the Demonstration Day at Camelot on Sunday. If you are at a loose end pop in and say hello, I would love to see you. I will be there between 11am and 2pm.

I had both of my legs treated for varicose veins this week. I had UGS which is Ultrasound Guided  Sclerotherapy injections into the veins. The procedure was relatively painless but I got a migraine after each treatment (1 leg per day for 2 consecutive days) which made for very unpleasant days and then of course I have to wear compression stockings for 7 days 24hrs a day and then 7 days whenever I am not in bed. They would have to be the most uncomfortable things I have ever worn. Can't wait for day 8 when I can take them off while I am in bed. One of the other things that is required is a 45minute walk every day for the 2 weeks, not a bad thing.

It was our wedding anniversary on Thursday, we have been married for 38 years. We have, of course, had our trials but, on the whole, I must admit I am pretty happy with the choice I made all those years ago.

In closing, some thoughts,
Outside my window.... a beautiful sunny day
I am thinking...... I hope I have remembered everything for Sunday
I am thankful for ..... my daughter and grand-daughter
I am wearing ....slacks, t shirt and cardigan...all black and compression stockings
I am going to .... go out for dinner tonight and then some dancing
I am currently reading... Street Lawyer by John Grisham
I am hoping... for another 20 years of wedded bliss
On my Mind ... Cindy & Sunday
From the kitchen ... Ginger Beer Cordial and Soda-stream
Around the house ... Better make the bed and do the dishes, it is 3:30pm!!!
One of my favourite things ... the ability to do as I please
A few plans for the rest of the week ... dancing, scrapbooking, babysitting
One picture to share ... Ray at the Rock n Roll Rendezvous in Birdwood last year.

Keep well
Leave me a message if you have the time, I would love to hear from you
Cheers

At last I have managed to do some scrapping and card making. The weather here is so bad that I have had no inclination to go anywhere or do anything else but sit in my scrap room and spend my time.

On Saturday morning I went to Seriously Scrapbooking and finished the Summertime Album that I started before I went away. I did not get it completely finished during the class but worked on it Sunday night and Monday night and am happy to say it is finished and I am very happy with it.

Saturday afternoon I had my Crop/Class at Camelot from 1:30 to 3:30. I have 2 attendees now and really enjoy spending time with them.

Saturday night Ray & I went to the West Adelaide Football Club for dinner and to watch my nephew in a Boxing Match. It was a pleasant evening catching up with 2 of my sisters from Port Lincoln who were also there to watch the match but unfortunately my nephew was disqualified because his mouth guard was red, which apparently is not allowed because the ump can not see if there is blood in the mouth if the mouth guard is red. This was disappointing for all concerned as a lot of people had made quite an effort to come and watch him fight. I have to say here that I am definitely not a Boxing fan, but I have seen the effort and dedication my nephew has put into his training and feel that he deserves any support I can give him.

Today I made a couple of cards with the scraps left over from the Summertime Album

I have used my Big Shot to cut the Butterflies and to emboss them and the yellow background piece.

I have used a Martha Stewart punch to do the punched edge and EK punches for the flower and heart and the Big Shot once again for the 2 labels they are mounted on and the embossing of the white label.

I will have them, and some more that I hope to make, on display at the Demonstration day to be held at Camelot on Sunday 26th of June (next Sunday) from 11am to 2pm. If you have got some spare time call in and have a look around. There is a 10% discount storewide for people who do.

We were going to go to the Adelaide Rock n Roll Club tonight but the weather and the band put us off so decided to stay home instead.

Anyway it's time for me to get back to some card-making so until next time
Cheers

It has been a while since my last post but there is a reason... I have been on the sick list.

I have got the flu and haven't felt like doing much for the last 4 days. I have done what I had to to catch up on the things that needed doing around here after being away for 3 weeks but that is about all.

I have not done any scrapping but I have made a heap of flowers. Camelot are having a demonstration day on Sunday 26th June and I will be there to promote the Saturday Crops that I have there each Saturday afternoon from 1:30 to 3:30. I am going to demonstrate how to make an assortment of flowers so I have made some to use for display purposes.

I will make some more over the next week, so if you have a favourite flower you would like to share with me please leave a comment with a link to the flower and I will have a go at making it.

These are some of the layouts from our Tasmanian holiday. These two were on the way to Bernie

These were at Cradle Mountain. The first two are of the walk to Crater Falls and the third at Crater Lake

This last layout is one I did to remind us how Charli used to pronounce her name

Have got a busy day tomorrow so will have to make myself get going...probably just what I need.

Would love to hear from you so leave me a comment if you have time
Till next time
Cheers

We are home...

We arrived home yesterday at about 2:30pm and Ray was a work at 3:45. It was a bit rushed but we got there. I dropped Ray off at work then went around to Cindy's to say hello and pick Daisy up. It was good to see them all again.

I collected the mail from the next door neighbour, a box full... so it took me some time to sort all that out.

My feet have not touched the ground today. I have done 3 loads of washing...where does it come from??? we washed everyday while we were away and I still had  so much to do today. Can't work it out really.

What a shemozzel with the airlines. Sharyn got home today with Virgin but Deb & Andre who are flying with Qantas will not be home until Thursday.

The last 3 days in Coolangatta were very enjoyable. Friday was exceptional weather wise, a beautiful day. I spent it having a beer at the Cooly and then perusing the rock n roll markets. In the evening we went to Twin Towns Stardust Room to see the Buddy Holly Show. A great show.

Saturday was quite a bit cooler and I spent the first 2 hours on the balcony of the Greenmount Surf Lifesaving Club with a heater, having a beer and listening to The Beach Boyz. They were fantastic. Unfortunately they did not have a CD but they were great. The rest of the day was spent walking around the streets listening to the bands as they played on the various street stages and another quick look at the markets just incase I missed something the first time. At 6pm we met up for pizza and to watch the car cruise and then off to Twin Towns for the Big Bopper meets the Big O Show in the stardust Room. Not a bad show but not my favourite.

Sunday was cold and wet so I was pretty happy that we had decided to spend the day at the Dance Competition. I just love watching the competitors dancing. They are so lively and the young ones are just sooooo smooth. I even won two raffle prizes. We had dinner at the Tweed Heads Bowls Club and stayed there listening to the band Route 66. We caught up with some friends we met while travelling around Australia and had a very pleasant night.

Tonight we are going to the Anzano Club to see The Party Cats.

I have not had an opportunity to upload my photos to my computer yet so will post them later on, although I must admit I have not taken many in Coolangatta at all.

Tomorrow I plan on spending some time doing a few of the things I have not been able to do for the past few weeks like scrapbooking, blog hopping etc

Anyway that is about it for today
Till next time
Cheers

We have been very busy for the last 2 days doing not much.

Each morning we have a nice cold beer looking out over the ocean in the sunshine and watch the cars and people go by. Then we generally do a bit of shopping and have a look around before going out for dinner and dancing each night.

We have seen some excellent bands.

Last night we had everyone around to our appartment for dinner before going out. That was good fun. Deb cooked up Spaghetti Bolognaise, which was delicious and everyone had a good  laugh. After dinner we went to Dolphins Hotel and saw Catfish and the DJ's. They were excellent. Catfish used to be the drummer in Johnny O'Keefe's band.

This morning Ray Sharyn & I are going to Twin Towns for the British 60's Show done by the Chevrolets. At 2pm we have a dance workshop and tonight we are going to see a band called Sweet Rock, so another busy day.

I have not had my camera out for a while so have no photos but will try to remember to take some photos over the next few days.

Hope you are enjoying whatever it is that you are doing

Till next time
Cheers

Monday.... a glorious day here in Coolangatta

We arrived Saturday and went to the Tweed Heads Bowls club for tea and the band playing there were The Chevrolets. They are great. The place was packed but we did manage to get a few dances in. It was enjoyable just listening to the band when the dance floor was too full.

Sunday we did a bit of grocery shopping then went to the Civic Centre for a show from 2 - 5, there were 3 bands. Cool Change who where fantastic, Old 45's who were good and The Breakaways who were also good. We had payed $18 for the tickets for this show and when we arrived they gave us a $10 refund saying they had reduced the price. As the show was about to finish they announced that we could go to the evening show for free. We went over to the Bowls Club for tea and to listen to the band Dance On. It was so packed that we left after we had finished eating and went back to the Civic Centre.
The 3 bands we saw at the night show were On The Move, we only caught the last 3 of their songs and think we missed the best band for the night, they were excellent. Then there was Route 66 and Shindig who were OK. A marathon day 6 bands!!!!!

A day of rest today and a chance to catch up on washing etc.

I walked into town along the beach this morning. This was the view..

a bit hard to take...

Then my reward for the effort, a beer at the Cooly Hotel

Anyway that is it for this post, the sunshine is calling.
I have added some photos to my previous post so you might like to check them out

Till next time
Cheers

Friday, June 3, 2011

Well I have been very naughty not posting since Monday but I am on holidays and have spent my days and nights relaxing and enjoying the fantastic weather we have had 25 - 28 degrees every day...beautiful and that great beach, pretty close to heaven.

This is going to be a quick post tonight....

Tuesday we went up to the Daintree. It is perfect up there, we spent quite some time walking around the Discovery Centre, it is on 3 levels and so interesting. We did not see much in the way of wild-life though. The rain forest is great to look at and walk through, we had a great day.

Views from the walk..

Wednesday was a Port Douglas day, we walked along the beach to town, a bit of shopping, an ice-cream from the ice-cream shop that has 42 flavours and then walk back.

Thursday we went to Karanda. Karanda is a small town in the mountains just outside of Cairns. We caught the train up there and the Skyrail back down. Both trips were very interesting, the railway track was laid in the late 1800's and the scenery from the train is magnificent. The skyrail comes down just above the tree tops and is quite scary. Karanda is an interesting town which is made up of shops to sell to tourists. Some exquisite art works and articles for sale and some of the usual junky stuff you can buy anywhere.

This photo is inside the carriage

This one is looking along the train to the front

And this one is looking to the back of the train

Today we had another Port Douglas day.......can't resist the walk along the beach, it takes about 40 minutes each way and the sun feels good, and of course that ice-cream is a big drawcard.

Tomorrow we fly to Coolangatta so next time I post we will be in a different location.

I have taken a few photo's but have not downloaded them onto the computer yet so will add them next time I post.

Till next time
Cheers
