Challenge over at Creative Inspiration

Hi there

I am still away on holidays but I am up on the Creative Inspiration forum today with a mini challenge

You can see the challenge here

Why not pop over and have a look and join in.

It is a very easy challenge. Just create a page about family and don't we do that all the time.

This is one of my examples.

Looking forward to seeing what you make for this challenge.

Till next time

Love Layout

It was my first DT Reveal over on Creative Inspirations yesterday and I forgot to share it here.

and this is the sketch

18118522_10155292953681133_6100300154714

You can see I have followed the sketch fairly closely.

I have used Kaisercraft Forever and Always papers and collectables, some Golden Glass Bead Gel down both sides of the dark paper,  through a Kaisercraft Circle stencil. I have embossed the hearts using a Kaisercraft embossing folder. A little faux stitching around the background patterned paper finishes the layout off.

Why not drop over there and see what the other DT members created.

Till next time

Foiling

Good morning

I have been messing around with foiling.

Many years ago I did some foiling on cards. I really liked it so I went crazy and bought every piece of foil I could find then promptly forgot about it.

Anyway with the resurgence of foils I decided to get mine out and see if I could remember how to use them. When I used them previously there was no heat involved i.e. Minc or laminator.

After watching several youTube clips I decided to try these methods:-

1. Stamp, Embossing powder glue and foil. Then run it through my Big Shot.
This was by far the best finish I got.

2. This one was using a Stamp, glue stamp pad, foil then run it through a laminator. As you can see it is very patchy. Not sure if this is because of the method or because the foil I used must be about 12 years old and is past it's use by date. I will have to try this method again using some newer foil.

3. With this one I stamped the flower outline and heat embossed it with Black then I used a Zig 2 way glue stick on the stamp for the inside of the petals. I then applied the foil,  I should have let the glue dry until it was clear before adding the foil but I forgot to. Then I ran it through my Big Shot. I think this method would work quite well if I had of waited a bit before adding the foil as it has got quite a good coverage even now.

4. Here I stamped, heat embossed with black and applied the foil while the embossing powder was still hot. I did use the old foil again on this one so not sure if that is why the foil has only attached sporadically or if it is the technique. I did not put this through my Big Shot.

5. Stamp, Glue Stamp Pad, Foil and Big Shot. This did not work at all. I inked the stamp pad up so there was plenty of glue on it but no foil at all attached to it. Big fail on that one.

So for me the Embossing Glue powder will be the way I go.
You can also use double sided sticky sheets (Jac Paper) or tape, with your dies and foil to make some excellent embellishments.

Thanks for dropping by
